The green opening took place on Saturday 15th April with a match between a President’s team and a Captain’s team. On this occasion the Captain’s team came out on top by 56 shots to 33 on a lovely sunny afternoon and so the President had to present the new trophy to the Vice Captain as the Captain was on holiday.
During our President's Day on Saturday 24th September Mrs Laura Absolom presented a new President's Trophy to the Club President Cliff Geary.
Mrs Absolom is the daughter of Ray Philips who was Club president for 20 years from 1982 to 2002 and the trophy was engraved with the following words:
"Donated in memory of Ray and Kitty Phillips"
On Saturday 17th September we played the second leg of the J. Lewis Trophy at home against Bradwell.
We won this game by 87 shots to 62 and as we had already won the away leg by 100 shots to 58
we won back the trophy for the first time since 2018.
On Sunday 4th September the second day of our finals weekend took place and in the morning session
Jef Cawdell beat John Gilbey to win the Club's Opens Singles Competition.
and Kay Kingston and Rosie Griffiths overcame Dorothy Parrott and Jenny Dean in the Ladies Pairs.
The afternoon session saw Jef Cawdell and Norman Line taking the Men's Pairs title
by beating John Gomersall and John Thorogood.
and Steve Misseldine saw off Roger Piosek to take the Club's Novice Singles Title.
Saturday 3rd September was the first day of our finals weekend.
The Open Pairs was won by Steve Misseldine and Jef Cawdell who beat Rosie Griffiths and Randell Moll
John Gilbey beat John Gomersall to win the Club's Mens Singles Competition.
Dorothy Parrott won the Ladies Singles when she defeated Sarah Cawdell in the final
In the afternoon session John Gilbey overcame Roger Piosek in the Open Singles 2 woods
And Fiona Reese and Lucy Comerford beat Rosie Griffiths and Sarah Cawdell in the Ladies 2 Woods Pairs
On Friday 2nd September Richard Russell, John Thorogood and Randell Moll beat Joan Poole, Ken Poole and Roger Shelton
to win the club's Offa Trophy (a competition for open triples)
Today - Saturday 20th August saw the first part of our Offa Trophy Competition.
This is for teams of mixed triples.
This initial part saw 8 triples divided across two groups - where each team played the other 3 teams in their group.
Going through to the final are the following two teams.
Joan Poole/Ken Poole/Roger Shelton and Randell Moll/John Thorogood/Richard Russell
The club's Open Triples Competition took place on Saturday 6th August.
7 triples played in the competition on a sunny and warm afternoon and
the winners were Kay Kingston, Roger Piosek and Cliff Geary
The heats of the Nominated Pairs Competition were played on a very warm Thursday 7th July.
There were 2 groups of 5 pairs. The winners of Group A were Cliff Geary and Norman Line and the winners of Group B were Sheila Cadge and John Gilbey.
The final between these 2 pairs will be played later in the season.
The first club competition of the season was the men's triples,
which was held on a very warm Thursday afternoon and saw
Roger Piosek, Richard Russell and Jef Cawdell triumph by winning all three of their matches.
We had a very successful Open Day on a bright, sunny and warm Saturday 30th April and the Green was bowling like a dream.
The green not looking so green today 29th November.
On Saturday 25th September we had our annual presidents day.
President Cliff Geary provided us all with a splendid hog roast meal
and celebrated by winning the Spoon Drive

The Ladies Pairs was won by Rosie Griffiths and Jenny Dean the runners up were Dorothy Parrott and Fiona Reese.
Club Captain John Gilbey presented the Two Wood Trophy to Cliff Geary with Sarah Cawdell as Runner Up
The Mens Pairs was won by Norman Line and John Gilbey with Randell Moll and David Nash as Runners Up
The Ladies Pairs 2 Woods was won by Sheil Cadge and Rosie Griffiths against Jane Stainforth and Kay Kingston

PRESIDENT CLIFF CELEBRATES HIS 90th BIRTHDAY
We once again entertained the WAFTA visitors from France and our visitors all enjoyed having a go at bowls.
President Cliff Geary presented a set of boules to the Chairman of WAFTA.
