Eighteen members took part in the annual Open Triples competition on Saturday 3rd August. We enjoyed excellent weather over 20 ends, punctuated by tea and delicious cakes provided by Cliff Geary’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The 6 teams were
Team A: Lucy Comerford, Chris Reeves, Norman Line
Team B: Diana Lawrence, Stan Hubert, Colin Bishopp
Team C: Kay Kingston, Steve Church, Tony Lawrence
Team D: Sheila Cadge, Harry Ardill, Victor Griffiths
Team E: Valerie Gomersall, Peter Joyner, Cliff Geary
Team F: Fiona Reese, Les Truett, John Thorogood
Each team plays each other team over four ends (a ‘mini-match’), so 20 ends in total. The runaway winners were team C, Kay Kingston, Steve Church and Tony Lawrence, on 27 shots while the runners-up were team D, Sheila Cadge, Harry Ardill and Victor Griffiths, on 17 with team F finishing in 3rd place.
The trophy was presented to the winning team by John Jeacock.
