On Sunday 12 members travelled to High Wycombe to take part in the quarter final of the Bucks Plate competition. Winslow were made very welcome by the High Wycombe members.
The game was competitive in a very sporting way and from watching the scoring the lead was changing constantly.
The rink of Cliff Geary, Colin Bishopp and Mick Bigby were however generally always in front and contributed well to the overall score. Len Ward showed the way with some amazing shots in the rink with Victor Griffiths and Roger Shelton and they also emerged winners.
Tony Lawrence, Norman Line and Richard Russell had a tough game and did exceptionally well: despite losing they managed to keep the margin low.
A special mention to John Gomersall, Roger Hayman and Darren Yearwood who, despite being a long way behind at one point, managed to claw their way back to lose by only one point.
Our very happy captain on the day, Tony Lawrence, was (and still is) over the moon with the team performance as we ran out winners 71 - 65.
We now await the draw for the semi finals where we will play one of Hazells, Olney or Amersham.
