Away v Brackley, Saturday 25 th May
We enjoyed Brackley’s excellent facilities, both on and off the green, during a warm and sunny
afternoon. The match, over 18 ends, was thoroughly enjoyable despite the result.
On rink 2 Stan, Roger Hayman and John Gomersall were neck and neck with their opponents for
twelve ends, but then struggled. A three on the last end could not save them from going down by 12
shots to 17.
On rink 5 Stephen Church (playing his first game for the club) John Jenkins and Cliff began very well
but could not overcome Brackley’s five on the 11 th end and six on the 14 th , and finally lost by 15 shots
to 23.
On rink 4 Valerie, Norman and John Jeacock led almost from the start, and surged ahead with a
seven on the 13 th end, only to see Brackley fight back hard to an eventual 19-all draw.
On rink 3 Mick, Roger Shelton and Colin, after a rather shaky start, moved up a gear to take the lead
and finish with our only win of the day, by 21 shots to 14.
Unfortunately that one win was not enough, and we ended the day with an overall loss by 67 shots
to 73.
