Away v Broadway Saturday 15 July 2023
Our Bucks Plate Quarter Final against Broadway turned out to be a rather one-sided match. 4 Men's Triples set off at 8:30am from Winslow to travel to Chesham to play on their artificial green. With heavy rain forecast we started our match more in hope than expectation of completing it without getting soaked.
As it happens there was some rain but the wind proved to be more of a problem. Perfectly delivered woods were swept sideways changing the path of the wood by as much as a metre turning good woods into bad and vice versa.
Winslow managed to win on one rink with another narrowly losing out in the closing ends but overall we were well beaten. I think this should go down as “good experience” for those of us that have never played on a non-grass outdoor surface before.
I am delighted that we were able to qualify for the Quarter Final of this competition and hope that maybe we can do the same again next year.
