Winslow wins the 2025 JL Trophy against Bradwell
We play Bradwell Bowls Club each year for the Jim Lewis Trophy. It is played over 2 legs with one match at Bradwell and the other at home and the trophy goes to the team with the most shots scored over the 2 legs:
We played the second leg at home on 23rd August having had a one shot victory in the first leg 2 weeks earlier at Bradwell. It was a pleasantly warm afternoon and the match was played in good spirits between the two teams.
In the end Winslow won on 3 of the rinks and drew on the other two with a winning margin of 82 shots to 68. This meant that over the 2 legs Winslow came out top by 170 shots to 155 and won the trophy for the first time since 2022. Our previous 3 wins had come as far apart as in 2018, 2016 and 2010 so let’s hope we can create a winning streak over the next few years.
The foundation for our victory on the day was provided by our highest winning rink consisting of Randell Moll, Norman Line and Cliff Geary who came back from 2 to 8 down after 7 ends to win by 20 shots to 11.
Our other winning rinks were Mick Bigby, Victor Griffiths and John Gilbey and Stephen Church, Tony Lawrence and Roger Hayman.
After the match we joined with the members of Bradwell for some light refreshments in the clubhouse.
