We played 6 triples on a lovely warm afternoon in Tomkins Park with all of the beautiful trees in full leaf.
We managed to beat our old rivals by 21 shots overall with a score of 99 for and 78 against. Looking back over recent years the results were as follows:
2024 match cancelled due to the West End green being unsuitable for play after a very very wet Spring.
2023 we went down by the narrow margin of 78 shots to 88
2022 another even narrower defeat by 76 shots to 80.
So the result this year is a great improvement.
Our highest winning rink was Norman Line, Victor Griffiths and Cliff Geary with a 10 shot advantage, just pipping the triple of John Jenkins, John Thorogood and John Gilbey who won by 8 shots.
Our other winning rinks were Les Truett, Tony Lawrence and Lucy Comerford who won by 17 shots to 11 and Stephen Church, Graham Saunders and Roger Hayman who came back from 6 to 12 down after 11 ends to win by 17 shots to 13.
All in all a splendid and successful afternoon.
