Captain’s Report on our game at Bicester.
We travelled to Bicester on Saturday afternoon expecting to play in the cold and damp, however the sun broke forth and it soon became a very lovely warm afternoon. Unfortunately our bowls did not quite live up to weather and we went down by 88 shots to 116 over 6 triples.
We did have 2 highest winning rinks of Norman Line, Randell Moll and John Jeacock and Tony Burrows , Graham Saunders and John Gomersall. However each of them only managed to win by 5 shots, whereas on 2 other rinks we lost by 12 and 20 shots – no names this time.
I played with Stephen Church and Tony Lawrence and we were swept away on the first 9 ends to be down by 1 shot to 19 at this stage. However we did win 8 of the last 9 ends and managed to claw back to a more respectable 14 shots to 20. Harry Ardill, Robin Galvin ad Richard Russell managed a respectable 15 all draw.
I would hope for a better result in our next friendly against Buckingham West End.
