Match Report v Wolverton Park Saturday 30 th August
Amazingly considering the awful weather forecast we managed to play the full 18 ends with only a couple of brief showers to dampen proceedings.
A big thank you to around 8 members of Wolverton Park who arrived early and put out all the scoreboards, mats and other playing equipment for the match. (I would hope that next season the new club captain will be able to look forward to much more support from regular players in setting up the green and the clubhouse and clearing up after the matches.)
The match resulted in a comfortable win for Winslow by 95 shots to 68 and wins on 3 out of the 5 rinks. The highest winning rink was Stephen Church, Sheila Cadge and John Gilbey in which both Stephen and Sheila bowled outstandingly. Our other 2 winning rinks were Stan Hubert, Norman Line and Victor Griffiths and Jane Stainforth, Fiona Reese and Cliff Geary.
With only one more match to play I have noted that of the full club weekend matches we have won 10, drawn 1 and lost just 5 – so quite a pleasing year for this aspect of the club’s fixtures.
