WBC Short Mat 2026-7: Fixtures and Results
Playing 'Short Mat Bowls' is an enjoyable way in which to spend a couple of winter evenings and enjoy good company.
- Monday night is our regular roll up night, starting at 6,30pm, except when we have away matches that fall on this day. Tuesday evening is our home match night, starting at 7.00pm
- The season started on the 21st of September with a practice roll up. For the first three weeks the sessions were extended by one hour to encourage new members to participate. This resulted in a dozen new members trying it out and hopefully some will continue on playing short mat.
Yesterday, 6th October, we played our first competitive league match of the season in the VSMBFL at home to Thame.
- Last year we beat Thame 8-2 at home, but lost 8-2 in the away match.
- This year, playing Thame in the first match of the season, we had a terrific 10-0 points win. We won all four games with the highlight being a 21-1 shots win by team John Gilbey, Colin Beckett and Lucy Comerford.
- All twelve of our players played well. A pleasing result and a great start to the season.
