The Winslow team was warmly welcomed to Scot Bowls Club.
The Scot green was originally opened in 1936 along with a Social Club for the employees of London Brick Company and was named London Brick Bletchley Bowls Club (LBBBC). Closed in 1980 when London Brick moved away. It remained closed until the employees of Scot Meats bought it out of their redundancy payments. They reopened the club in 1983 as Scot Bowls Club and even though that company no longer exists the club still retains the name.
We played a match of 4 triples on a warm but blustery afternoon and fortunately the forecast showers failed to put in an appearance.
It was a finely balence match, each team winning on 2 rinks, and the final scores announced by Scot captain, Mike Foster, resulted in a draw with each team scoring 59 shots. As Mike pointed out, after two and a half hours of play neither team was able to claim a win. Our team captain for the day, Tony Lawrence, thanked Scot for their hospitality, acknowledging that both club presidents, Cliff and Amanda, played today. It was an enjoyable match for all participants.
Congratulations to John Gomersall, Tony Lawrence and Rosie Griffiths who claimed the honour of Winslow's winning rink.
